The Pete Plan?

From my post in the Free Spirits forum...

I'm pondering doing the Pete Plan...

I thought I would do the 3 of the 4 x 2,000m pieces tonight since it ties in well with the C2 plan for today.

The PP appears to suggest 2K split + 4-6 but I had no idea what to expect so I went for 2k + 7 and a 1:48.6 split (based on my 2k test on Tuesday).

hr 100-172 7:14.8 @ 1:48.7
hr 114-182 7:14.8 @ 1:48.7
hr 113-192 7:09.7 @ 1:47.4

On balance I think I got the pacing about right. The last one is supposed to be faster I think, but of course I was missing the third one! It looks like a hard session - I was within 4 of my HRmax of 196. Whether I could have done a third at the same sort of pace as the first two and then a 4th faster is a moot point. I am glad I paced it conservatively - I could imagine the hollow laughs of the PP Free Spirits if I had been too ambitious.

I enjoyed the challenge of maintaining a split rather than a heart rate. It tests mental toughness better than a HR piece and that is a weak area for me.

The 4 x 2K is the toughest of all

My most treasured erg session is the time I did all 4 under 8 mins.
Small for some

You do need to do all 4 though .....

Typical Pete Plan rest - 5:00 for this session.
