4' again + gates!

From my post on the Free Spirits web site...
"Thought I would slip in a crafty level 2 today and nip in to FS1. I neglected to check the CTC site and find myself still behind Wolfie and Petr. So I find myself 1m behind Petr and 2m behind Wolfie... ...I find that my "level 2" is close to my level 10 - that was quite hard. Level 3 may have to wait until the end of the month."
I was not intending to do a CTC piece today but when I saw that my schedule indicated 3 x 4' TR (basically flat out) I thought "what the hell?" and went for it.

I was aiming for a sub 1:39 split and set up two pace boats - yesterday's row and a 1:38.5 pace boat. I would love to get to the O'Neill "excellent" rating but suspect that 1,237 @ 1:37 may have to wait a bit. I would be overcome if I could do that by the end of the month, since today was pretty much flat out and I managed 1,219 @ 1:38.4. My heart rate did NOT reach my TR rate of 182! At 39 I am at the top end of the O'Neill age range - my 1,219m today would be "excellent" if I was 40! Am I wishing the months away?

Anyway, the second 4' was a complete waste of time and I gave up after about 60 seconds, tried again then failed. I took a good hard look at myself in my internal mirror and decided I had to do better on the last one. TR (I reckon) is all about huge breaths and hard pulls. I worked hard and huffed and puffed my HR up to 181 by the end.

The gates are staying blue. Front door next, though that is a big job (old door - falling apart). I keep meaning to put up a picture of the final colour but the best I can manage at the moment is the undercoat since I keep forgetting to take pictures of the finished article! This is the side of the gate that I made. Dad made the left hand one. His is better made but only he and I would notice! The great gate debate came about because over seven years the gates have shrunk - I had to add another panel 20mm wider than the one it replaced and then squeeze it all together. It is much better having gates that do not have gaps in them!

Metres today: 7,234
