Improving...

Today was 3 x 13' AT (172 hr @ 26 spm). This makes an interesting comparison with where I was when I returned from the summer holidays. On 19th September (24 days ago) I did a 10' AT piece - split 1:50.4. Today I did 13 minutes AT - average split... 1:50.4! So I rowed 3 minutes longer for the same split. This must indicate forward progress despite my fragmented training - though I was starting from a low point! Progress was inevitable (no rowing vs rowing regularly) but it is nice to see that I am improving.

I did the first 13 minute piece with my feet unstrapped. This was strangely difficult and painful. I was probably rowing better because I had to sit up straighter and pull in harder. It was a relief to do the other pieces strapped in.

I am typing this as a distraction from the RWC semi-final. Currently half-time with France 6-5 up. I am always naturally pessimistic in these things. Desperate for England to win, desperate not to watch. Hiding behind the computer screen.
