A little better today. Before New Year I had a woeful row. Aiming for 10k below 40 minutes I gave up after 30. I had stopped twice to remove clothes and fiddle with my heart rate monitor but still tried to get a sub 40. This proved impossible in my mentally and physically weak state.
Today was a "hard row" on the Pete Plan. I aimed for a 10k in under 40 minutes with the second half faster than the first. At 5k I was splitting at 1:59.4 and I murdered that on the "way back". From 2,500 to 750 to go I increased the split by 0.5s every 500m and then in the last 750 I lowered the split by 1 second each 100m. In the last 100m I lowered the split each stroke, ending at 1:33!
I was planning to try the CTC (250m) after the 10k and the finishI did gave me some confidence I wouldn't crash and burn. My 42.4 @ 1:24.8 is OK given I had 10km in my legs (albeit relatively slow) and I can go faster. As usual Petr is the target!
