Remember the %&@£$%* inhaler (the step test)

Today was seven weeks since my first step test so I decided to do another. (A minimum of six weeks is the suggested time between them.) I forgot my inhaler but gave a couple of deep breaths and thought "that's OK". Hmmm, I had again spent time in the garden today and seem to remember that two Sundays ago was a total failure after gardening.

So, the plan was to do the exact same rows as the first time and see that my heart rate is improved for the same power. I managed the four "set" pieces comfortably, but I gave up half way through the maximal piece. Sitting here 20 minutes later my lungs are again tight and this must explain why I could not keep the pace up. It does not explain my wimping out. I put that down to lack of mental toughness. I seem to give up as soon as I sense anything sub-optimal at the moment.

My heart rate on each step was identical to that six weeks ago. So at best I have not gone backwards, except that I have lost mental toughness. Ah well. keep plodding on. And remember the %&@£$%* inhaler next time.
