Giving blood...

I finally, and for the first ever time, gave blood today. The experience was strangely similar to the virtual blood donation session at www.blood.co.uk that I have been using at school. It was a fluke that I managed to give blood too - MBH noticed the session was on whilst I was taking my eldest swimming. I popped in and left an hour later 470ml down. I have been meaning to donate for years. The two times I tried before I was sent away - once (1987) because I was due to row that afternoon, and then later (1995?) because I had recently been to Africa. I thought I was banned for life because of that, but times change and I am on the list now.

I am banned from rowing tonight though! Light exercise is OK, but they say that the bending of the arm repeatedly is not recommended in the fist 24 hours. I wonder how long the blood takes to be built up again? I don't think I will be trying the CTC again tomorrow, that's for sure.

Metres today: 0

(Later: Found a thread on blood donation on the concept 2 forums. Erk. Looks like I will not be doing any PB attempts for a month or so!)
