Tapering and other things

Message to wolfie: tapering is where you reduce the mileage in your legs and increase the quality of your rowing in preparation for a race. e.g. in the C2 plan there is a two week period where the work gets shorter and more violent, down to the day before the race where you do 3 x 45 seconds at AT...

Which leads me to ponder again whether I will taper for Evesham. Still undecided but time is running out on that. Maybe I will leave it until the middle of next week and do a 3 day taper! My preparation for Evesham is going to be mixed up anyway. On the Thursday I have a governors meeting and then go to the new Harry Potter film. On Friday I am driving down to relatives near Evesham. There is the distinct possibility that I will have a violent allergic reaction to their house, in which case I won't be able to race at all anyway. Ah well.

Today was 3 x 10' UT1 (161/22). The first one was almost identical in distance to the nightmare failed 5 x 10' UT1 from 10th June, although I was MUCH more comfortable in it. So that is some progress I suppose. I was a bit bloated (too much coffee and cake whilst the girls were at gym I guess) and got cramp in the second one. I rowed through that. The distances were:
  • 2660m @ 1:52.8
  • 2,558m @ 1:57.3
  • 2,505m @ 1:59.8
I must say I am glad to have completed a few rows this week even though the one on Monday was a wash out...

School was mad today. The recycled fashion show saw me clad in bottles, bags various bits of pasta. Very, very surreal.

Metres today: 11,252

Good to hear it's coming together Thomas. Re tapering - I'm afraid I have no idea! Sorry - but I'll be reading how your preperation goes with interest....
