A night out with the boys = painful sprinting

I have not been treating my body too well recently. Wednesday night was the party to celebrate the departure of our Year 11s. They are a tremendous bunch and it was a very emotional evening (imagine 160 16 year old girls, 90 of them crying). I loved it. The only down side was the catering. Our canteen provided an array of brown food. The only edible thing was crisps. I chowed down on these to excess. All Thursday I had a crisp hangover from the salt and flavourings. Never had it before. Never want it again.

Then today I was suffering with the after effects of a night out with Free Spirits... Those big boys carried on after I left them at 10pm. I was a little frayed around the edges this morning and lets say I was not 100% prepared for my first class. By mid morning I was OK but the after effects were carried through to the rowing this evening.

I am still planning to do a race pace 2,000m on Sunday, though my preparation has not been ideal to say the least. I am sitting here consoling myself with some vino blanc but that will be the last I have before rowing on Sunday night. On the C2 plan, I should have been doing 3 x 1.5' AT. Probably still somewhat euphoric from the night before I saw "500 PB" written all over this. I was way ahead of schedule (average split at 1:26.5) after 60 seconds. A mere 26.5 seconds to go for a new PB but it was about 26 seconds too far and I popped. Some way to go on the mental toughness then! I had three feeble efforts all in all before finally completing one with a 1:34.9 - which should be my 1,000m PB pace later in the year.

Metres today: 6,808
