I'm a little worried that I am coming down with something new. Runny nose all day though I feel OK. Anyway, this is obviously not affecting my rowing since my planned 3 x 12' UT1 (161 bpm) was a really good session. I felt strong all the way through the three pieces. If I had extended the first to 15' I would have probably beaten my PB by 20m.
I felt strong and my heart rate was in rigid control. At times like that I seem to slip in to a dream-like state and focus intently on the stroke and heart rates. I think I managed seven strokes at 22/161 but was too unfocussed to really be counting today.
The distances in the three pieces were 3,176m (1:53.4), 3,101m (1:56.1) and 3,068m (1:57.3). When you compare those splits with my first 15' UT1 just two days ago (1:57.3) it puts in perspective how below par I was - both days had very similar rows the day before so it cannot really be fatigue.
So, that is the end of the first week of my 26 week count down to BIRC 2007. The week was supposed to be "low" and although it was tough at the start because I was under the weather, today the session felt right. I do feel that my aim of 6:29.9 is looking tough. I did the maths today the increase in power over my PB is more than 10%! Gulp.
Metres today: 11,361
