I decided to doa 15 minute row at UT1 (161 heart rate) today. This would be a good comparison with 2007, when I was doing a lot of this type row. I felt it would be a good measure of my general fitness.
I managed 3,902m in the first row, which (suprisingly) compares favourably with where I was this time last year by about 20m. The problem is that BIRC is a month earlier this year. I did a really good preparation for BIRC last year, but then got a terrible bug and ended up literally speechless on the day, pulling a poor 6:49ish row.
With less preparation time and my poor motivation and performance so far, this is my target - just to beat last year's row. I am certain it is possible but suspect that I'll need the adrenaline on the day to do it.
Metres today: 7,656
