mile

I want to give Petr a run for his money on Thursday so did a short test today to see whether I was functional or not. I did a long warm up along the lines of the one mentioned by Wolfmeister on the Free Spirits forum. It is not that different to what I do normally to be honest - I gently increase the intensity but according to heart rate though rarely go over 130bpm. I think that getting a little higher makes sense though.

I wanted to do a mile in "not embarrassed" pace without running out of steam at the end. I aimed for sub 1:42, keeping even 1:42 splits all the way rating about 30. It was relatively easy and in a 2k I would have finished in around a 1:41.0 split if I had gone mental at the end. My target with Petr will now be to pace it for a 6:45 time and see what happens over the last 500m! My heart rate did not get above 178 in the piece today which suggests I have more. In a full bore 2k race I would expect to be at 180 by half way. We'll find out on Thursday.

I am slightly worried that my youngest has developed a massive snotty nose and is clearly below par. My illnesses have followed hers this year, and if this is true it means I have possibly one more illness to get over before BIRC. I got my start time for BIRC today - 10:45am. About the same as last year.

Metres today: 5,039

I think it's about time your daughter got a place of her own - at least for the next 10 days :D
