Something not right... (turned out to be lack of food!)

Spent six hours in the car yesterday (down to Bath for a memorial service). Today I woke up wheezy. A quiet day, then I mowed the lawn. Still wheezy. Still, the new mower did a nice job.

Today should have been 5 x 10 minutes at UT1. I had been looking forward to this. But first piece was all wrong. MUCH too hard. I am guessing that I could not transport oxygen effectively in my weird lungs so was working too hard and went anaerobic. I realised quite quickly that I was struggling and eased off but I think that the damage was done.

Once my heart rate had slipped back to 110, I aimed to do the second piece at a 155 heart rate - 6 lower than UT1, but I handled down after two minutes and paddled home.

The third piece I aimed to do at 144 beats per minute but I handled down after three minutes and gave it all up as a bad job. Handle down when trying to keep the heart rate at 144 is a bit worrying but there was nothing there.

Hayfever? A cold? I don't know, but it was not fun. Hope it gets better again tomorrow.

Metres today: 6,988

Later: My support team pointed out that:
  1. I did not eat when we got back last night;
  2. I did not have much lunch because I was looking after the kids and sorting out MBH's birthday present.
So it was probably complete lack of fuel in my system after > 24 hours with only a boiled egg and a few slices of bread! Moral of story: EAT!
