The two week plan...

The goals for the last two weeks of April thread got me thinking what my goals were. I was planning a decent marathon, but two months out put paid to that. So I had to think what I really wanted to achieve in the last few weeks of the season. 2 million metres has gone by the board so it looked like a timed piece might be the target.

So my aim is to get back in to Free Spirits III on the CTC 12,000m challenge (1:55.8 split). This is a "gold" target, a "silver" target would be Free Spirits IV (1:57.6 split).

Today I thought I had better get the body used to the 1:55 pace. I was going to have a pop at a 12,000m piece but RowPro kept crashing when I set up a pace boat. Time caught up with me so I decided to do some 2,000m reps at 1:55 and see how they felt.

The answer was that they felt "OK". I kept the split up without much extra effort though my heart rate was nudging up to 170 on the last one. I concentrated on accelerating the wheel and as usual this made a significant difference to the heart rate vs split. I just wish I could do this all the time!

My reps were curtailed by the need to go in and help put the kids to bed...

Metres today: 8,035
