So, I thought I would pull my (increased) weight for the club and row in the CTC. 12,000m is a lot further than I have been at any time in my come back so I was very conservative. The plan was to go over at 150HR for 6,000m, then note the average split at this point and aim to keep the split below that until 1,000m to go without exceeding my anaerobic threshold. At 1,000m to go all bets were off and I was going to go for it assuming all had gone well.
I rowed to plan and was pretty pleased by this. Although I was slow I felt OK throughout and had no pain from the op. My heart rate in the run in was 190 though. I felt comfortable at this HR(!) but backed off once my brain realised that this was a little high for someone returning from a lay off.
So, all positive today. Next row is an hour for the 24 x 7 challenge. on Easter day. Will I go for 15,000m? I think it is probably a step too far given my time off. Tempting though. I would be really pleased if I could do it - I think I am 6-10% down on my previous fitness and 15,000 is around 4% off my PB. Maybe I will set off at 2:00 split and "see".
Metres today: 14,588
