After yesterdays embarrassment I thought I had better work out the "less optimistic" splits I should be working for. I also thought today should be a bit gentler to recover from yesterdays (near) exertion.
I was running late, so started off cold at about 2k at "FM" pace, then the need to be honest overcame me and I stopped to look up all my splits and do an honest calculation of projected HM and FM split times. I came out with HM pace of 1:56.9 and FM pace of 2:06.9. (based on HM=10k+(10k-5k) and FM=10k+3(10k-5k). The HM pace is WAY faster than my existing PB but the FM one is about spot on with where I am now.
After all this pfaffing about (I was also fiddling with installing debian linux on my old server) I only had about 30 minutes left before the girls' baths so did a 7,500m-ish piece in 3x2500 @ (FM/10k/HM). It all felt OK.
