Trying a sprint session

Yesterday was quite good. Tomorrow I give blood and plan to then have three days off. So today I tried a Pete Plan session. It turned out to be the awful 4,000m sprint pyramid.

The first three reps were OK - I was trying to match my last run at this session. The 1,000m, always a very tough mental battle, led to a handle down at 500m. I was splitting at 1:39.2 average but my strokes were coming in at 1:40+ and I was not up for the mental battle. The fitness is probably there, but not the mental toughness!

So tomorrow I donate my blood and aim to rest for three days. Last time my elbow really bothered me so this time I am having a complete break. It is more than 90 days from the next event (Evesham) so I can't complain about lack of red blood cells!

Metres today: 2,947
