On Saturday is my annual half marathon. I say annual because I only did one last season, and to be honest doing a HM at fast pace is not my idea of fun. A full marathon is really NOT my cup of tea.
So, the question is pacing. My fastest ever HM was done at 1:59.9 pace per 500m. This was not too bad. My predictor suggests that flat out I should be doing anything from 1:56 to 1:58 based on previous rows. I have done 10k recovery rows at 1:56 in the past so I am a little confused.
To see "where I was" I set out to do a 39 minute 10k. My heart rate would be interesting, and the split to aim for was 1:56.8. I managed the row OK, but by the end my heart rate was well over 160 so I am not sure that this was sustainable for a further 44 minutes.
I am still undecided and may well do the HM on heart rate for the first hour then see what I have left.
Metres today: 10,000
