CTC and HR Max redux (196)

CTC race on RowPro with Gregor today. Like old times except that he has not rowed for a year so it was not much of a race. At the rate he is improving it won't be long!

I have not done anything super hard for a while and was interested how I would shape up.

I thought that a 1:49.9 split might be fun, so set off at that. I could have held that for 5,000m but began to lose faith that I could do that for 5,000m then hold on at anything like that split for the last 5,000m so eased down. My time to 5,000m was 18:23.6. Given that a few years ago my target for 5,000m was under 19 minutes, I am pretty happy that I was able to complete that and still finish the 10,000m in under 38 minutes with 37:49.3 (on average, two sub 19 minute 5,000m back-to-back!). I was staring at the 38:00 barrier on projected time for the whole second half and my heart rate crept up and up, hitting 180 for the first time at 11 minutes(!) and drifting up over the next 26 towards the 190s. In the sprint for home in the last 250 ,according to RowPro I had 5 seconds at a heart rate of 196 and my last stroke hit 197! I don't trust the last stroke data so will stick with the 196 as my current HR max. At least it shows that I was trying.

RowPro worked well. No crashes, perfect connection. I am sure that the PM3 helps.

Metres today: 12,210

Pushing hard there Thomas... good to see. Will try and ensure that it inspires me to attack the CTC similarly tomorrow.
