pace then eased back to a UT1 row (or 160 bpm). This was relatively
comfortable but I still was cramping up in my right leg by the end.
The time was a little over 41 minutes, which is progress!
Then yesterday was the scary 4x 2,000m with 5 minutes rest. I was not
looking forward to it, but aimed for 7 seconds behind PB again. I was
pretty pleased with how they went - the splits for the four rows were:
1: 1:53.8
2: 1:52.8
3: 1:53.4
4: 1:49.7
With an overall 1:52.4. More details here:

I had a very good last 500m in the last 2k. It was probably sub 1:45,
ending at 1:40. My body feels odd when rowing. It is like an echo of
what it can do. Echo, muscle memory, call it what you will, but I
seem to have more than I think at the moment, I just need to teach
myself to find it again. Interestingly I hit a heart rate of 198 on
this row, which is a whole 16 beats faster than when I started
properly in June 2006. That will come down as my blood thickens up,
but it is still pretty scary.
I think I am capable of a sub 7 minutes 2k now, and that is probably
half the battle. When fit, sub 7 is relatively comfortable for me (5
seconds off PB pace). My plan for the run in to BIRC is LOTS of 2k
pieces at sub 7. It worked for the 1k and the Evesham mile so it may
work for BIRC.
I slept badly last night, so no rowing tonight. Exhausted. May try
for a sub 7 tomorrow though - as a "hard distance" row.
Metres Wednesday: 10,000
Metres yesterday: 9,019
