5,000m @ 2:00 - just about...

The Pete Plan beckons, but I'm woefully out of shape. Today should have been a hard row or a steady row. 5,000m @ 2:00 should be a doodle, with my heart rate barely about 150, but I knew that even getting to 5,000m in under 20 minutes would be a challenge.

I tonked along at 2:00, and watched my heart rate creep up. I was pushing all the while really, but the discomfort was not as it would be if I was actually fit. At the end I had enough to push for 500m but felt very, very weak. I got only one stroke under 1:30 split, but I got there in the end.

So, I managed 19:43.7, and it was a struggle. I am definitely weak, I have lost a lot of fitness in the last few weeks of idleness.

Metres today: 5,000
