Still pulling those 1:43s

Yesterday I worked very hard on making my new raised beds, so no rowing. I finished them today but his is work in progress. I ordered too much wood but then in an amazingly dopey "measure once, cut once, swear a lot, cut and chisel another 10 times" incident I found I needed most of the spare wood. Oops.
So, I was really tired and also too excited by the impending (and glorious) last Dr Who episode of this season. Also my parents were coming to dinner! In the end I drank too much and got a very late night.

Today, I wanted to do another 1:43 mile row. I did a proper warm up (2k) then waited endlessly for the Federer v Nadal fourth set to end. I' rooting for Federer, the fifth set will be played out during my warm down.

Then into the piece which was good. My hands and forearms were tired and sore after all the work with the wood but I soon forgot about it. I was going pretty well, though my heart rate was high. No doubt the hard physical work and dregs of alcohol in my system explain that. With 200m to go I thought I had better see what a sprint finish felt like and went for home. I held 1:35 or better until 50m to go then eased back because it was hurting. All that is left is the 5k warm down whilst watching the tennis!

Metres today: 8,609
