It ain't what it used to be but it is a start...

I was not expectingn great things today and thank goodness. I have not done a proper row since early February and eight weeks off implies 16 weeks to get back in Dr Erg maths. So I did what I tried to do on Monday and completed a 10k at 22 stroke rate and 130 heart rate. This is the piece I did "regularly" before joining Free Spirits and I use as a "where am I" fitness test.

I did a 46:11.5 which puts me back at July 2006 timewise. This is not too bad since I am pretty confident that I wil improve rapidly. My body was just not used to the effort even at a very low heart rate. At about half way I went all wobbly legged and had to make a mental effort not to handle down. I kept on and it slowly got better. Funnily enough, the last 2,000m probably felt the best.

I think that I will continue these low effort pieces for a week or so before working out a plan until the 6 month C2 plan for BIRC starts on 20th May.

Metres today: 10,000
