Today was supposed to be a 3 × (1,000m @ 5k pace / 2,000 @ FM pace). And, amazingly, this is what I actually did. Who'd believe it.
Difficult day really. Came home to Tamsin on her knees, ill, and she disappeared to bed. Not what I was expecting after a late night preparing and a long day at work including a staff meeting. Anyway, somehow I got the kids all in to bed and set off to row.
I found the reps pretty comfortable, but then I suppose I should be able to easily do 1,000m at 5,000m pace. My recovery rate was interesting. I have not yet worked out if RowPro can do a "stop for as long as I need" rest (i.e. until my HR is down to 108 or 2 × resting), and in my latest attempt I found that I had 2 minutes rest between the reps. First time round this was way too long, second time it was spot on and third time it was too short! Looking at the data though, I find that I was faster and faster as the reps went by. My first 1,000m at 5km pace was 1:46.7, the second 1:46.6 and the last 1:46.4. Similar stats on the 2,000m @ FM pace (2:04.4/2:04.1/2:03.8). My heart rates at the end of the 1,000/2,000 went up steadily: 165:142/173:149/179:154).
So, I have bored my 1 reader with stats. Now to write my reports!
Metres today: 12,048
