So, rest day yesterday, pleased with my form from Saturday (did a strong 5 x 1,500 @ 1:50 average) so "went" for a big 10k. I think it was a substantial season's best but still miles behind my 1:49.x PB.
I was conservative through the first 5k aiming at 1:57 ish and trying to keep my heart rate below 160. At 4,000 it began to creep up because I felt pretty good, and under 39 minutes looked possible. I kept pushing through the last 6k and ended up with 38:43.2 @ 1:56.5. Max HR was 184. Way lower than I used to be able to get up to a few years ago.
Pretty happy, but still a long way off my best.
